Freelance Journalists Wanted – Scamurai Research
Scamurai is looking for freelance journalists to contribute investigative pieces on scams, fraud, and consumer rights in the tech space.
I’m especially interested in writers based in East and Southeast Asia who can report on local cases and trends.
Who I’m Looking For
I don’t care about your degree or where you’ve worked before. What matters is your ability to dig into stories and tell them well.
Minimum Requirements
You can write reasonably clear, compelling English. Don’t need to be a native speaker.
You’re fluent in the language of the country you’ll be covering (not just enough to order a drink—you need to read official documents, make calls, and conduct interviews).
You have some ability to do journalism—meaning you know how to investigate, verify sources, and report with accuracy.
How to Apply
Send an email to callan@scamurai.io with:
A short cover letter (a few paragraphs—no fluff, just tell us why you’re interested and what you bring to the table).
Original writing samples (choose pieces where you’ve done some real reporting, not just rewrites of wire stories).
One pitch for a story you think would fit Scamurai (check the site for the kind of stories I publish).
Students are welcome to apply. Pay starts at HKD $200/hr.
If you know a good story when you see one and can chase it down, I’d love to hear from you.
